Background:

Abbey Road School was opened in 1967. The school buildings are sited on a large, well-treed, green field campus. The extensive playing fields provide two football pitches and an all weather cricket strip. Hard surface tarmac areas are used for netball matches and general sports activities. The school aims to provide opportunities for all its pupils to enjoy participation in sport. The school is fortunate in having extensive grounds comprising football pitches, netball courts and a cricket field. Pupils follow a skill-based programme of activities focusing on football, netball, cricket, rounders, rugby and hockey. There are opportunities to play sports outside of school hours both through internally organised matches and inter-school competitive games. There are a number of activities, which take place during the school year. The school also arranges instrumental music lessons for small groups of children through the music support services. A community in which every member feels confident and valued and works to improve the quality of learning.
