Background:

Opened in 1977, Peafield Lane Primary has been extended four times and 40% of children come from outside the catchment area. The school is 'modern and well-resourced', with an astroturf pitch and computer suite. The site is surrounded by open countryside and situated on the edge of Sherwood Forest. Environmental trails have been developed in the surrounding area as part of the science and geography curriculum. There are 'strong' community links and several local groups make use of the school community hall. Extra-curricular clubs include gymnastics, French, recorders, choir, football, netball and basketball and children also have the opportunity to learn a musical instrument such as the clarinet, guitar or violin. Residential trips are organised regularly. There is a purpose-built nursery on site which is 'very popular'. Peafield Lane Primary is equipped with ramps, handrails and changing facilities for disabled pupils. Support assistants are employed to assist pupils with special educational needs (SEN) and the school also has access to support and advice from the local education authority.
