Background:
Gotham Primary School is situated in the village of Gotham, some six miles south of Nottingham and four miles from the Leicestershire border. Its catchment area covers several rural villages, but it also draws 15 percent of pupils from outside the catchment area, mainly from the Clifton area of Nottingham. The school occupies two buildings across the road from one another. The original premises date from 1879 and accommodate two classes, a hall and an ICT suite, with meals served in an adjacent building. Four further classes are housed in the second building. Both sites have hard play areas and there is a large playing field on the new site. The school also has an orchard area, Key Stage 1 garden and play area, wildlife pond and sheltered seating area. Extra-curricular activities range from computer club to football, netball, cricket and basketball. Parental involvement is actively encouraged and the Friends of Gotham parents association helps support the school. The school also has an induction programmes for children moving on to secondary education.
