Background:

Muskham Primary School caters for approximately 220 children aged between four and 11. The school was purpose built in 1965 with a special infant extension added in 1975. A new classroom was built in 2001; bringing the total to seven. There is also a Foundation (Early Years) Unit, a Library, a Hall and a kitchen. The school'serves North and South Muskham, Bathley, Little Carlton and Cromwell. Recently, the school has built an open plan environment with extensive outside play equipment and grounds and extensive grounds with multi-use games area providing all-weather facilities. A wide range of extra-curricular activities is available for children including music, art and drama activities within and outside curriculum, all major competitive sports activities and a few non-sport based after school club. The school runs an annual outdoor activity weekend for its year six children and are in the process of organising an environmental residential trip for its year five pupils. It has introduced French throughout its curriculum and holds regular themed days/weeks to broader it's curriculum e.g. Hindu Day, French Day and Take One Picture. The school regularly undertakes fundraising for charities, a recent example being it raising over £800 for the NSPCC. The school has high expectations from its children and encourage them to have high expectations of what they can achieve in academic, artistic, sporting and dramatic endeavours.
