Background:

The West Bridgford School is a large 11 to 18 county, co-educational, comprehensive secondary day school. It is well resourced with excellent facilities in all areas. For sporting activities, there are extensive playing fields, a swimming pool, a Astroturf all-weather surface with flood lighting, a gymnasium and a large sports hall. The science area has many well-equipped laboratories and in creative arts, there are various specialist rooms to cater for the teaching of art, music, design and technology. There is also a recently modernised theatre as well as a large assembly hall and networked computer suites. The school runs an extensive extra-curricular programme involving the following sports: netball, cricket, cross-country, hockey, tennis, athletics, dance, rounders, orienteering, football, swimming and softball. A new post-16 block was opened in January 2004. The school aims to provide a secure environment, in which pupils with special educational needs are enabled to achieve their potential.
