Background:
Carlton Central Junior School is a co-educational community school for pupils aged seven to 11. The school'shares a pleasant site with its partner infant school. Facilities include eight good sized classrooms, a large hall, a dining room, a well resourced special educational needs room, a mobile suite of 15 laptops and a suite of 11 computers for small group work. There are standalone computers in each classroom and a wireless network to ensure broadband internet connection in every classroom. The school also has an asphalt playground, full size football pitch and additional grassed areas for playtimes. The school offers a variety of extra-curricular activities and clubs including football, netball, cricket, athletics and music. Each class makes a variety of visits during the year. The school has a small but enthusiastic group of parents and friends of the school who arrange fundraising activities and support the school at key events such as Christmas productions and visits. The school aims to provide a secure and caring environment in which children are encouraged to be confident, to enjoy learning and to do their best in everything they undertake.
