Background:

Carnarvon Primary is a modern, 'spacious' building built in 1968, with an additional unit added in 1976. It is situated on an 'exceptional' site in the market town of Binham, to the east of Nottingham. Facilities include ten classrooms with grounds which provide 'ample opportunities' for environmental studies, sports and play. The school runs several clubs for the children, including football, netball, cycling proficiency, short tennis, orchestra, recorders, art club and drama. Within sport, pupils enter a variety of competitions which in the past have included the Midland indoor athletics tournament and various netball and football tournaments. Carnavron support local and international charities such as Concern Worldwide, Barnardos and the NSPCC. Locally the school has organised book fairs to help improve the provision of books throughout the school. All children are given the opportunity to participate in at least one educational visit each year with children in Years 2,5 and 6 having the opportunity to go on weekend visits. Carnarvon aims to 'provide a secure, happy environment through which children can develop within the society to which they belong'.
