Background:
The Becket School is a secondary school and sixth form for boys and girls. The age range of the pupils is 11 to 18. The original Becket School founded in 1931. The current school was formed from the amalgamation in 1975 of a boys' grammar school and a bilateral school, which occupied two separate sites, half-a-mile apart. The upper school, housing Year 11 and the sixth-form, is sited on the banks of the River Trent. A wide range of extra-curricular activities are offered at lunchtime and after-school. These activities include football, netball, cricket, hockey, rugby, gymnastics, swimming, volleyball and athletics. The school aims to be a supportive community formed by the values of the Gospel, in which young people are helped to discover the relevance to their lives of Christ's life and teaching.
