Background:

The Meden School and Technology College is an 11 - 18 comprehensive situated close by the River Meden and Sherwood Forest, serving the community of Warsop and surrounding settlements in North Nottinghamshire. The School was built in 1965, housing pupils from the former Birklands Boys' and Girls' Schools. Although the school opened on September 7 1965, the official opening took place at 3pm on June 8 1966. The building is constructed around five courtyards and provides purpose built accommodation in specialist suites. There is a hall and gymnasium, and adjacent to the school is a Sports Centre with a heated swimming pool, sports hall, squash courts and multi-gym. The school is continuously seeking to improve and modernise its learning environments. Current new builds include: A purpose built 6th form centre, due to open September 2004 and the new reception area which will be completed in April 2004. We have our own 17-seater mini bus. Many pupils represent their county in sporting areas including cricket, football and rugby, and a few have played for England.
