The Nottingham bluecoat school was founded as the charity school in Nottingham in 1706, situated in St Mary's gate. The school's ground at Aspley Lane and Wollaton Park and provides excellent sporting and recreational facilities, with the space for fourteen tennis courts, four hard play areas, eight full size pitches and two athletics tracks. It has a full-size sports hall, gym and access to Wollaton and Melbourne parks for additional pitches. The school has 10 computer rooms, three well-stocked libraries and resource centres linked to its career provision. The school encourages taking part and competing in team games and individual pursuits. It provides activities like netball, football, rugby, gymnastics, basketball and indoor and outdoor athletics.
