Background:

The school is situated in Toton, a modern residential area on outer south western fringes of Nottingham, about seven miles from city centre. The school is located in centre of private housing development, which was built to cater for the children from this housing. The school is over-subscribed. It is housed in a attractive, modern-style building opened in 1963, standing in open grounds with two large football pitches, an all-weather cricket strip, two large playgrounds containing netball courts, a large conservation area and a pond surrounded by broadleaf trees. It has a central hall, which is currently used for physical education, drama and assemblies, which can be extended to include a dining area. It has nine classrooms, described as airy and generous in size, surround the hall, along with a library and computer room. The school provides a broad and balanced curriculum, with many extra-curricular activities including sports, dance, computers, juggling, chess, choir, music, French and cycling proficiency. It has established itself at the forefront of information and communication technology and has a purpose-built computer room. Each child is taught on their own computer and has access to the internet and e-mail facilities. The school's football and netball team are current champions. Bispham achieves high standards and expects similar standards and commitment from all members of the school community - staff, parents and children. There is a strong emphasis on team building, encouragement and advice, and all children are divided into houses. The school enjoys good reputation in the local community. The school aims to provide a stimulating, caring and respectful environment.
